"Rescue is my favourite 'breed' and I am all about making ethical, kind and effective dog behaviour improvement as accessible as possible.
I see no reason why your dog’s happiness and welfare should be dependent on the depth of your wallet. For this reason I strive to keep my costs and prices as low as possible."

Hi, I'm Allan
I’m the expert behind Derby Dog Behaviour. I specialise in offering compassionate and effective solutions for your dog’s specific needs. My ethos revolves around the wellbeing and happiness of your dog, and focuses on long term behaviour changes – not quick fixes.
.
I have the technical skills, specialist knowledge and practical experience to help you to help your dog. Here are a few facts about me:

I have almost 20 years experience with dogs - as the owner of rescue dogs, as a professional dog walker and also having previously offered a home boarding service.

All this experience is underpinned by a Dog Trainer Foundation Award from the Karen Pryor Academy.

I hold a Foundation Degree in Applied Canine Behaviour and Training along with a BSc. (Hons) Canine Behaviour Management. During my studies, I learned about the science, best practices and benefits of positive, reward-based behaviour management and training.

Rescue dogs are my passion, and I’ve volunteered at several rescue centres and seen dogs at their most anxious and vulnerable.

Over the years, we have welcomed seven rescue dogs into our home, all of whom have been successfully rehabilitated.

Through my collective experiences, I have seen tens of thousands of dog interactions. Either when introducing a new dog into a group, or seeing the behaviours of dogs encountering others, whilst out in the park, or on the street. I can read and understand the dogs’ body language and reliably predict their next action.

"Behaviour change can be challenging and may take time to achieve. This is why I work to foster a relationship with you and your dog, which lasts beyond any immediate engagement.
In my experience, behaviour change is unlikely to be simultaneously kind, effective and quick.
Effective change takes time because it requires us to address the underlying issues that trigger the behaviour. This needs to be done at the pace that your dog is happy to set."
